Young Bombers spank Bulldogs

Life after Kevin Sheedy doesn’t look so bad after all, with Matthew Knights’ Bombers comprehensively belting the Western Bulldogs by 54 points to move in the NAB Cup semi finals.

The Bombers ran rings around the Bulldogs, employing a fast, running style of football. Both sides were missing a host of stars, however Essendon can take plenty of heart moving into the AFL season proper.

Scott Lucas was indestructible up front. The Bombers forward nailed three super goals and two regulation goals. Essendon established a 21 point lead at the first change. By half time the gap was 39 points and the contest was over.

Jason Akermanis was encouraging for the Bulldogs, however coach Rodney Eade will be concerned with the lack of penetration near goal.
