Wednesday meeting to decide Mason future
A Bulldogs board meeting on Wednesday will determine the fate of Willie Mason.
A meeting today between Bulldogs chairman Dr George Peponis and Mason’s manager Greg Keenan brought no immediate resolution, with the contents of the meeting kept confidential.
Keenan released a statement yesterday suggesting four other Bulldogs players would leave the club if Mason severed ties with the Belmore club.
Mason has flown to Melbourne to attend Derby Day at Flemington, with the test forward bizarrely screeching “Such is life. Ben Cousins,” when met by a flood of media at the airport.
The dispute between the Bulldogs and Mason revolves around the club’s denial of a request from Mason to compete in a professional boxing bout, as well as an impending fine after the Dogs giant failed to attend a club function.
