Walker injury blow

The career of troubled Gold Coast Titans winger Chris Walker has hit another setback, with a training mishap to result in ankle surgery.

Walker is believed to have ruptured an achilles tendon while taking part in the ‘beep test’ on the first day back at training for the Titans.

The former Maroons winger will check into hospital tonight for an almost immediate operation. Walker’s career in on a tightrope after several off-field incidents, including a drunken incident at a nightclub, resulting in an eight week suspension from the Titans. His one year deal is believed to be heavily laced with incentive clauses.

Officials confirmed that Walker will be unavailable for an extended period.
