Viduka off as Owen breaks drought

Mark Viduka left the game with a suspected hamstring twinge, but the story of the day at St.James Park was Michael Owen’s first goal since December 2005.

A goal which ended Newcastle’s horrendous 646 minute goal scoring drought at home. The 88th minute winner squeezing United into the top four, albeit momentarily.

Meantime, braces Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso have headlined Liverpool’s 6-0 win over a hapless Derby County, rocketing the Reds to the top of the table.

Tottenham butchered 2-0 and 3-1 leads to draw at Fulham.

A Craig Bellamy goal on six minutes set up West Ham’s 3-0 win at Reading.

In the late game, Louis Saha spoiled Roy Keane’s return to Old Trafford, with a 71st minute goal give Manchester United a battling 1-nil win over Keane’s Sunderland.

Man U are just two points off the top. However, Liverpool and Chelsea have matches in hand.
Bolton Wanderers 1-2 Everton

Fulham 3-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool 6-0 Derby County

Middlesbrough 2-0 Birmingham City

Newcastle United 1-0 Wigan Athletic

Reading 0-3 West Ham

Manchester United 1-0 Sunderland
