Vaidisova through to Serena match up

Twelfth seed Nicole Vaidosova is through to a likely round of 16 clash with Serena Williams, after a 6-3, 6-4 win over Japan’s Ai Sugiyama at the Australian Open.

Think Lleyton Hewitt is good value at $2.10 to beat Marcos Baghdatis at the Australian Open? Bet now with Lasseters

The 2007 Melbourne Park semi-finalist was a mixed bag on Margaret Court Arena, with 31 winners offset by 33 unforced errors. Sugiyama will rue her strike rate on break points against the Vaidisova serve, converting 0 from 7.

Vaidisova and Serena have clashed on three occasions, all in 2007, all resulting in Williams straight sets victories.

> Safin: I should have won in straight sets
> Blake beats friend, bogeyman Grosjean awaits
> Ivanovic cruises into third round
> Hewitt: Opponent faked injury
> Lleyton makes hard work of win
> Santoro: Federer beating was fun
> Healthy Federer fit and firing
