Under siege McKenzie talking tough

Ewen McKenzie has responded to suggestions his Waratahs coaching job is on the line in the only way he knows: With the siege mentality that served him best as a Wallabies prop.
Reports suggest McKenzie has three games to prove his credentials, starting with this week’s home clash against the Cheetahs. It is understood the NSW rugby board is unhappy with the Waratahs lack of attacking prowess. McKenzie was smouldering at training today.
“It’s a test of character and a test of nerve. You’ve got to keep fronting up. Well, I’ll front up here every day. I don’t mind,” a stoic McKenzie said.
“I’ve got big shoulders. I can carry a pretty big load.”
“All I can do and all the team can do is front up on Friday or Saturday and do their best. There’s better times ahead for this team.”
McKenzie responded to last weeks 34-7 capitulation against the Canterbury Crusaders by drafting Sam Norton-Knight into the starting XV at fullback, with Lachlan Turner moved to the wing and Alfi Mafi dropped. Prop Benn Robinson is also back.
