Triple Honour gives Boss third straight Doncaster

Boss has become the first jockey in over 80 years to claim three straight Doncaster Handicap’s, with Triple Honour holding out the fast finishing Casino Prince at Randwick.

Today’s win is the fifth Doncaster for Boss, who will return to Hong Kong this evening.

“I’m not worried about the history,” Boss said. “You just can’t imagine the feeling you get from winning this race.”

“I’m so excited”

Triple Honour carved through the field, hitting the lead just past the 200 metre post and establishing a two length lead. Casino Prince (Damien Oliver) stormed home, finishing just behind the winner. The Shane Dye ridden Pinnacles flashed home for third.

“There was virtually no run there for him, but to his credit once he got through, he kicked strong,” Boss told Channel Nine.

Boss paid tribute to rising trainer Chris Waller, who claimed his first group one victory. “Great training performance from Chris. He’s a trainer with a massive future. Watch out. He’ll go through the roof, this kid,” Boss said.
