Tiger forgives Tilghman for lynch comment

Tiger Woods has brushed aside controversial comments by Golf Channel presenter Kelly Tilghman, which resulted in the anchor suspended for two weeks.Think Tiger Woods will win the Buick Invitational? Bet now with Lasseters

Woods said it was ‘unfortunate’ that Tilghman used the word ‘lynch’ when having a discussion about Woods with co-commentator Nick Faldo.

“Kel and I did speak,” Woods said. “There was no ill intent. She regrets saying it, so, in my eyes it’s all said and done.”

“It was unfortunate.”

Tilghman and Faldo were chatting about the prospects of Tiger Woods’ dominance being threatened. Tlighman quipped other players would have to ‘lynch him in a back alley’, a highly racially sensitive comment.

“She’s a friend of mine. I’ve known her for about 10 or 11 years now. We all say things that we do regret, and that was certainly a moment that she certainly regrets,” Woods said.

“It’s been more media driven than anything else.”

Tiger makes his return to the PGA tour at this week’s Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines, where Tilghman is expected to return to her post for the Golf Channel’s coverage of the opening two rounds.
