Johnathan Thurston has sustained a hip injury as the Cowboys almost found a way to snatch defeat against the Warriors at Dairy Farmers Stadium.

North Queensland opened up an 18-nil lead early in the second half, with Thurston leaving the match to receive treatment. The Warriors replied with a try to Patrick Ah Van, with Manu Vatuvei’s converted try putting the visitors within range with six minute remaining.

The win drives the Cowboys to third on the ladder, while the Warriors three game winning streak has been snapped.
