The Interview: Anthony Mundine (Page 4)

What is the path now? When do Calzaghe and Kessler come into the picture?
I‘m looking at ‘08 as being a big year. I want Danny Green again. I think it’s just right that I give him a second opportunity because there was a rematch clause.
There was a rematch clause?
Yeah. It will be in Perth. The rematch has to be. It’s at his weight (light heavyweight).
What does that do for you, honestly? You’ll make a pile of money, but you’ve already got a pile of money…
It closes the page for Danny Green. There are still a lot of questions in the air. Will he be too strong for me at light heavyweight? Will he rise to the occasion because it’s in Perth? I want to close the book, knock him out.
Then when do you look at Calzaghe or Kessler?
After that.
How important is this first fight for you?
Very important. It’s going to give me the confidence I need. As I said, I’ll be at 60% and have to deal with somebody in the top 15 in the world. If I can beat him convincingly, like my last fight, then I’ll be over the moon.
Fighting a top fifteen boxer at less than 100%. That’s a risk, isn’t it?
Yes. But I feel maybe they may have caught me a little because of my eye, but they ain’t up where I am.
Has this changed you as a man?
Changed my outlook on life, changed my outlook on the almighty. I’m closer to Him, definitely. We can’t plan. We can’t plan anything. God is the greatest of planners.
