St.Kilda to challenge Baker suspension

The Saints will make a last ditch attempt to salvage the season of Steven Baker, who was outed for seven weeks at the AFL tribunal this week.

The St.Kilda defender was given the heavy penalty after a behind the ball incident against Fremantle, which saw Jeff Farmer concussed and taken from the field.

The club believes it has ‘several’ grounds for appeal, with the tribunal admitting they accepted Baker’s versions of events of an incident which was not captured by television cameras. Baker was deemed to have made high contact with Farmer, with high impact.

The Saints will risk $5000 to fight the charge.
