Stewart called in for doubtful Mini

New South Wales has given fullback Anthony Minichiello until tomorrow afternoon to prove his fitness ahead of Origin II.

Manly’s Brett Stewart is in camp after spending his one and only training session with the squad this morning.

Minichiello didn’t travel to Telstra Stadium because sitting in a bus would have been detrimental to his condition. “His back flared up quickly, and we’re hoping it can settle down just as quickly”, said team manager Greg Pierce.

The pending origin debut of Stewart was music to the ears of Queensland coach Mal Meninga. “He’ll be given a baptism of fire. He’ll know certainly know he’s in a football”.
