Souths lock in Homebush for 10 years

In a move sure to polarize fans, South Sydney have inked a deal to stay at ANZ Stadium until the end of the 2017 season.

The Rabbitohs will have its own specially created dressing room, sure to be the envy of the competition, with the club committing ten games a season at the Olympic venue, plus any home finals.

It’s believed the SCG trust attempted to lure Souths back to the Sydney Football Stadium with an attractive offer. The Rabbitohs averaged crowds of 15,702 last season. Despite the rising attendances - coinciding with the team’s improved performances - many fans are unhappy getting the train to Homebush.

“The people at ANZ Stadium showed faith in us when others didn’t,” outgoing Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said.
