Sonny Bill admits interest in All Blacks

Sonny Bill Williams has refused to deny rumours that he’s interested in switching to rugby union.

Williams, who has just commenced a five year deal at the Canterbury Bulldogs, told Channel Nine’s The Footy Show that while he’s content at Belmore, he would look at his options if New Zealand rugby was interested in poaching the superstar.

“If the All Blacks came knocking on my door and offered me something pretty big, I definitely won’t be a fool,” he said. “I’d sit down and look at it.”

“I’ve got five years left at the Dogs. I’m happy with where I’m at. But like I said I’m going not going to be a fool if the All Blacks come knocking at my door.”

Suggestions that Sonny Bill might contemplate a change of codes was started by former Wallabies coach Eddie Jones, who said the All Blacks could not win the 2011 Rugby World Cup unless they prized Williams from league. New Zealand rugby has made no approach to Williams.

“I don’t live in a fantasy land, either,” Williams told The Footy Show. “(NZ Rugby) haven’t said anything at the moment.”
