Seahawks put away diabolical Niners

It was easy-as-you-please for the Seattle Seahawks, as they routed a dreadful San Francisco 49ers 24-0 in Monday Night Football.

The NFC West leaders (5-4) were barely troubled by the Niners (2-7), who secured a pitiful six 1st downs for the entire match, for a total of 173 yards.

The Seahawks opened a 10-0 lead at the quarter, thanks to a Will Heller TD off a 1 yard Matt Hasselbeck pass, as well as 20 yard Josh Brown field goal with 4:10 remaining.

Maurice Morris extended the lead with a six yard run with 5:22 left in the half. The third quarter was been scoreless, while Hasselbeck found D.J.Hackett on a 10 yard pass to open the final quarter.

Niners QB Alex Smith threw 12 of 28, for 114 yards. His record as an NFL starting quarterback is 11-19. Hasselbeck finished with 27 of 40, for 278 yards, including two TD’s and a pick.

In a curious stat, the Seahawks have kept their opposition scoreless five times in their 24 Monday Night appearances.

San Francisco has lost its seventh consecutive game, after winning their opening two games.
