Ruthless Hawks crush Pies with deadly final burst

The football world has wait until round 17 to see heavyweights Hawthorn play Geelong, and after the Hawks bagged ten goals in the final term to steamroll Collingwood at the MCG, it’s difficult to see who will challenge Hawthorn in the meantime.

Hawthorn’s trilogy of forwards have seldom played on the same arena. With Buddy Franklin (6 goals), Jarryd Roughead (6) and Mark Williams (5) providing seventeen scintillating goals, the rest of the league world will be shaking – including the Cats.

The only downer for Hawthorn is the hamstring injury to Luke Hodge, who will miss next weeks Hall Of Fame match as a minimum.

The Pies were predicted by many to deliver the game plan that would close the Hawks down. Collingwood had moderate success to keep Hawthorn’s lead to 25 at three quarter time, however the Hawks ran over the tired Pies to make its biggest statement in its 7-0 start to the season.
