Ruthless Ferrer sends Gasquet packing

It’s difficult to believe back-to-back wins over the world number two and three players could be bettered so clinically, yet the white hot David Ferrer upped his tempo even further with a scintillating 6-1, 6-1 demolition of Richard Gasquet at the Tennis Masters Cup.
The result eliminates Gasquet, while Ferrer’s Spanish compatriot Rafael Nadal is shoehorned into the final four, thanks to his win over Novak Djokovic earlier in the evening.
Sixth seed Ferrer has been the man of the tournament, perhaps Andy Roddick could argue with, however the Spanish surprise pummeled the 8th ranked Gasquet with a series of winners from the back of the court. Ironically the Frenchman broke serve in the first game of the match, but Ferrer quickly shifted into overdrive, scorching home forehand winner after forehand winner.
13 in total.
At times it looked like a man against a boy.
Ferrer finishes the round robin series with a 3-0 record. He will play the second placed finisher from the Red Group, which could be Roger Federer.
