Ronaldo stings old club

Cristiano Ronaldo
> Wednesday Champions League scores
> Tuesday Champions League scores

You would think Cristiano Ronaldo had just won the game for Sporting Lisbon. The young Portuguese star scored the only goal of Manchester United’s 1-nil Champions League win over Sporting, yet the local boy was given a hero’s reception as he left the arena.

Ronaldo delivered a low header in the 62nd minute, instantly stalling his celebration. There were no theatrics as the Man United winger paid respect to his former home fans.

In light of the Portuguese homecoming, the performance of goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar will go under the radar. The keeper was brilliant in the early stages.

United welcomed back Wayne Rooney, who was solid without doing anything noteworthy.
