Roddick blitzes flat Gonzalez

Monday’s epic triumph over Roger Federer must have seemed a world away to Fernando Gonzalez, who was thoroughly disposed of by Andy Roddick at the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai 6-1, 6-4.
The dye was cast early when Roddick stormed through the opening five games, establishing a dominance that was never relinquished. The world number 5 was brutal on serve, losing just five points on his first ball for the match.
Roddick is 2-0 for the tournament but is still not guaranteed a slot in the semi-finals, especially given he will face bogeyman Roger Federer in the final round of the group stage.
The American has a 1-14 record against Federer.
Gonzalez will take on out-of-form Nikolay Davydenko on Friday, with the Chilean in all likelihood needing to win and depend on the countback system falling his way.
