Riddell glassed in Sydney pub

Parramatta Eels hooker Mark Riddell has been the victim of a glassing incident in a Sydney pub.

Riddell was with several other NRL players in an Eastern Suburbs location, when he was reportedly the victim of an unprovoked attack. The Eels hooker was struck near the top of his head, requiring six stitches.

“The gash was about four centimetres (wide). If it we took a call before an NRL game asking if anyone was injured, we wouldn’t even report it in,” Eels media manager Damian Kelly said

“The seriousness of the wound is not a concern at all.”

It’s also believed Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall, who was attacked in similar fashion last year, was with Riddell when the incident occured.

Riddell will reportedly make a full recovery.
