Richmond upset Pies
Collingwood’s late season slide is now very real. A hiding at the hands of Brisbane and a clumsy win over Carlton has been exacerbated by a 20 point loss to Richmond, just the second victory for the Tigers this season.
Richmond were inspired, largely on the back of All-Australian contender Nathan Foley, along with Brett Deledio, who enjoyed a rare visit to the forward line, booting five goals.
“I haven’t kicked two (goals in a game) before”.
The first half was a see-sawing affair, with the Tigers spurts constantly reigned in by the Pies. Richmond led by 8 at the major chance.
A Ryan Cook behind tied the game at the ten minute point of the third term, sparking the Tigers into overdrive. They were to kick six of the next seven goals to ice the match. Richmond ended with 385 disposals, dwarfing the Pies 266.
Collingwood cannot slip out of the eight this weekend, however their top four chances have been several dented.
