Ponting wins cricketer of year

Ricky Ponting

 Ricky Ponting’s stellar season has been rewarded with two major gongs at the ICC awards.

Ponting was named cricketer of the year, as well as captain of the year. Shaun Tait handed the ‘emerging cricketer of the year’, after a stellar world cup, while Matt Hayden has gone from limited overs dropout to international one day player of the year.

Captain of the year: Ricky Ponting (Australia)

Emerging player of the year: Shaun Tait (Australia)

Spirit of cricket award: Sri Lanaa
