Ponting sets Sri Lanka 507 as Hussey lifts average

Australia has declared its second innings fofty-five minutes before lunch on day 4 of the second test in Hobart, setting Sri Lanka a world record target of 507.

Australia finished at 2 for 210, Ricky Ponting unbeaten on 53, Mike Hussey 34, further improving his incredible test batting average.

Phil Jaques was the only casualty of the morning, lofting Lasith Malinga to Michael Vandort at deep point on 68.

Hussey’s red ink moves his average from 84.6 to 86.2.

Murali took 1 for 90 off 20 overs. His final tally of the Australian tour reads 4 for 400, leaving the off-spinner four wickets short of Shane Warne’s world record 708 test scalps.
