Pies and Kangas favour Seven boycott

Channel Seven

The fallout from sensitive medical information being stolen and broadcast continues, with the anti-Channel Seven attitude among AFL players picking up steam.

Seven reported allegations against a Melbourne based club and its players of widespread drug use. Two people, not affiliated with Seven, have been arrested for theft.

Collingwood players intend to refuse any interview request before, during and after the Pies Friday night match with Adelaide, a game to be televised by Seven.

The stance has been supported by the club with CEO Gary Pert promising to provide a spokesperson from outside the playing group to fulfill sponsorship commitments.

Meantime, Kangaroos forward Drew Petrie says he’d support a similar boycott, as well not attending this years Brownlow medal, which will broadcast by Seven.

Petrie is an AFL Players Association delegate.
