Whatever chance Australia has of scoring an unlikely win in the Adelaide test has elevated, with Matt Hayden and Phil Jaques remaining unbeaten after the first session of a warm day three.Australia is 0 for 158, 169 away from knocking off their first target, the follow-on. Matt Hayden has controlled the tempo, reaching 86, a 30th test century beckoning. Phil Jaques lifted his scoring rate towards the end of the session to move to 59.The Indians are down a bowler, with RP Singh unavailable for day because of a hamstring strain. Seven bowlers have already been employed by skipper Anil Kumble, including part-timers Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar.
While the Australian openers have cashed in on the flat deck, the tourists will be encouraged by variable bounce, as well reverse swing from Irfan Pathan.
