One is enough for Man United

A long volley in the first half from Paul Scholes has propelled Manchester United to a 1-0 victory over Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League semi final at Old Trafford.

It was the only goal of the tie as Man United ensured an England team would win the European title.

Missing Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic to injury, Man U went ahead on 14 minutes when Scholes slammed a right footer into the tip right corner of the net from 25 metres. Scholes had a busy opening, having almost given away a penalty in the opening minute when he brought down Lionel Messi on the edge of the box.

Barcelona unleashed wave after wave of attack - Thierry Henry was introduced into the match in the first half - however the Spanish giants were wayward in front of goal that would have sent them to the final.

Manchester United have not played in the Champions League final since its last-minute win over Bayern Munich in 2000.
