The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) held a meeting into the late evening, before finally agreeing to continue, however the board was at pains to insist Harbhajan Singh’s racial suspension is still at the forefront of their actions and nothing short the case being thrown out will guarantee the tour will be seen out.
“The BCCI will review the tour and all other developments continuously,” a BCCI statement said.
“This is only an interim arrangement.”
With controversial umpire Steve Bucknor removed from the WACA test and an appeal hearing against Harbhajan’s three-test ban unlikely to be heard before next Wednesday’s opening day, leaving the off-spinner free to play, the Indian board was satisfied enough to resume the tour.
“The BCCI is of the categorical view that the matter will have to be finally resolved and the unfair allegation against an Indian player be set aside/withdrawn,” the BCCI statement said.
