No curfews: Gallop
The NRL will not step in and enforce a curfew system on league players, despite the latest incident which saw three Parramatta players shot at in Kings Cross early on Monday morning.
David Gallop was flying home from the World Club Challenge in England when the incident took place, however the NRL boss was quick to condemn the players involved.
“This is about taking responsibility about not placing yourself in high-risk situations, Gallop said. “There’s no doubt that at Kings Cross at four o clock in the morning, there are land mines everywhere.
“Even if you’re not intoxicated yourself, the chances are there’ll be intoxicated people around you. The sad reality is you may be provoked.
Despite his anger, Gallop stopped short of promising league-wide rules on curfews or ban players from attending known trouble spots.
“I don’t believe blanket curfews are the answer. Certainly if clubs want to impose that kind of condition on their players, that’s a matter for them. I don’t believe in blanket curfews imposed by the league.
