Anthony Mundine has retained his WBA super middleweight title with a clinical points win over Nader Hamdan at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
Mundine barely looked troubled throughout, dominating the judges scorecards 120-108, 117-111 and 119-109.
Hamdan lived up his ‘lionheart’ reputation, standing up to a barrage of Mundine punishment. The Sydney journeyman appeared set to fall, only to keep finding ways of surviving until the bell. Hamdan had some nice moments in the bout, however his speed and power were sapped in the early stages, leaving his punches lacking in snap. While acknowledging he expected to the distance, Mundine will be disappointed he couldn’t finish off his respected opponent.
Mundine extends his record to 31-3, with a Danny Green rematch likely to be ‘The Man’s’ next assignment.
