Mundine: I knew it would go the distance
Anthony Mundine was full of praise for Nader ‘lionheart’ Hamdan after the Sydney journeyman took the WBA super middleweight champion the distance.
“I thought it was going to go twelve rounds” Mundine said after the bout, which he took comfortably on points.
“If you ask Nader, he prepared like he never prepared before.”
Hamdan had a reputation for being a hard-nosed competitor with a granite-like jaw. That status was only enhanced as the former cab driver withstood a barrage of punishment thoughout.
“He wasn’t going to come in with the mindset that he’s going knocked out or stopped,” Mundine said.
The bout was a far cry from Mundine’s previous performance, when he made short work of a horribly outclassed Jose Clavero.
“Once again the critics who said it was a mismatch, you all saw a great fight tonight.”
