Michael Clarke: I called Kumble

Relations between the Australian and Indian cricket teams appear to be on the mend, with Michael Clarke, one of the controversial figures to emerge from last weeks Sydney test, making contact with Indian skipper Anil Kumble.

Kumble singled Clarke out after the Australian stood his ground in their second innings at the SCG, despite being caught at slip. The incident sparked Kumble’s now famous claim that Australia did not ‘play in the spirit of the game’.

Clarke was statesmanlike when addressing the media at the WACA today.

“I spoke to Anil, he was actually very supportive and said ‘I understand’,” Clarke said.

“If it happened again, with hindsight, I would have reacted differently.
