McLellan out in semis

The closest 100m final in history

The dream run of Sally McLellan in the 100m at the World Championships had ended in the semi-finals.

McLellan had run a personal best of 11.14 in the heats, but she couldn’t replicate that form in the semis, finishing last in a time of 11.32

The final was one of the most thrilling in history of the event, with

4/100ths of a second separating the first five runners.

In a sea of extended arms and torsos, Jamaican Veronica Campbell won in a time if 11.01, pipping American Lauryn Williams, who ran the same time. Teammate Carmetia Jeter took bronze in 11.02.
