Marsh wins man of match on debut

Western Australia’s Shaun Marsh has scored an unbeaten 84 on debut to help Kings XI Punjab to a breezy seven wicket win over Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad.

Chasing a target of 165, Marsh was sublime, pounding eleven fours and a six in his 62 ball innings. Punjab always looked in control with the left-hander holding up one end. Sri Lankan’s Mahela Jayawardene clubbed 45 not out off 23 balls.

Earlier Adam Gilchist only made six as Deccan spluttered to a mid range total. Rohan Sharma top scored with 76 not out.

Punjab now have six points from five games, moving into fourth place, while Deccan’s abysmal IPL just gets worse. The Chargers have only won once and tail the field along with Mumbai and Bangalore.
