Lyon to fight charge

Jamie Lyon will risk a one match suspension by fighting a dangerous throw charge at the NRL judiciary.

The incident happened in the first minute of the grand final, with Lyon choosing not to take the easy path and plead guilty, thus avoiding suspension.

Teammate Jason King has accepted a one match suspension for a knee lift, while Melbourne’s Ben Cross will miss his first two games at new club Newcastle, after being advised to accept an unnecessary facial conduct charge.

Lyon will front NRL headquarters at 6pm tonight.
