Kangaroos captain Darren Lockyer had admitted the English Super League is an enticing prospect, after watch the Challenge Cup final at Wembley.
Well over 80,000 watched St.Helens beat a brave Catalans, with Lockyer impressed with what he saw
“How could you not want to play there?” he told Skysports.com
“I was envious of the guys who have come over from Australia and are playing there. I guess one thing you’d like to do in your football career is play in a Challenge Cup final at Wembley.”
Lockyer, currently nursing a knee injury which was recently operated on, is contracted to the Broncos until the end of 2009.
“I know Trent Barrett has gone particularly well here and I’ve been talking to the Catalans guys like Stacey Jones, Jason Croker and Adam Mogg and they are really enjoying their time in the south of France.
“A lot have come back to Australia and say they’re really pleased they did it. They’ve been happy with the experience.
“I’ll be 32 when I come off contract with the Broncos so probably in the next 18 months I’ll be able to answer the question about whether I want to come over to the UK with a bit more confidence.
“At this point in time it’s getting past this knee injury and getting back to the Broncos next year. Beyond that I will have to wait and see.”
