Lewsey out of final

England’s lone try-scorer in the knock out stage out of the Rugby World Cup has been ruled out of the final.

Winger Josh Lewsey, who went into the record books last week with the fastest try in Cup history with his try after 78 seconds against France, has a grade one hamstring tear.

“I feel gutted. Until I went off, I think only Ben Kay and I had played every minute of this World Cup (for England),” Lewsey said.

“There will be no-one happier than me come Saturday night if England win. This isn’t the time for any self-pity or anything like that, this is a time to be positive and take it to South Africa.”

The options to fill Lewsey’s spot on the wing would include Mark Cueto or centre Mathew Tait.
