Let John Kosmina coach

DAILY SERVE: Weds 14/2

John Kosmina seems like the type of man that could pop a blood vessel if the gherkin was left out of his Big Mac. Heaven knows how he’ll react if he’s not allowed to coach Adelaide United in the A-League Grand Final.

Kosi will today attempt to explain why he should not be barred from the season decider. Footage of his after match ‘observations’ to referee Matthew Breeze at the end of last weeks prelim final would seem rather conclusive. Whatever he said was said with vigour, with the f-bomb apparent, followed by something starting with ‘c’. There aren’t many words beginning with ‘c’ that marry-up nicely with the F-bomb. I can think of two that make a complete sentence. Neither are in Kosi’s favour.

His defence will no doubt relate to chestnuts such as the heat of the moment, the excitement of actually winning a final (as opposed to winning a lead only to choke it away), while the magnitude of the upcoming match will doubtless get a run also. He should throw all of that away.

Just tell them how good his outrage is for the game.

Kosi is compulsive viewing. Gregarious. Angry. Emotional. Angry (OK, that was mentioned twice, but he is really angry). All good television. He took centre stage at a mid season match at Telstra Dome, when he and his plastic chair were knocked over by Kevin Muscat, the A-League’s 2nd most irritated man. Coach and opposition player almost came to blows. Wonderful. Last season he used an after match interview to challenge the Queensland Roar coach to a fight. Now this.

Victories in the most exhilarating matter can bring out the all sorts of concealed emotions. John Aloisi does a lap with his shirt off, Shane Warne does a lap dance with a stump, while Pat Cash steps on people’s heads to reach his family in the stands. Kosi tells the ref to get f**kd.

Melbourne Victory have been the standout team this season. They are the overwhelming favourites. If Kosi can let rip at the referee when his team wins, imagine what he can produce if they lose?

Kosmina says he can coach the team from a coffee shop. Terrific. While 50,000 of you pack into the Dome, I’ll be somewhere in Melbourne, having a very enjoyable latte. Best ticket in town.

Kossi definately adds some spice to the competition.
He shows as much passion in his coaching as he did when he played.
