Knights run out of puff, and troops

The town might be under water, but Newcastle people proved yet again their connection to the Knights, turning up in droves to see their young team eventually succumb to a professional Tigers outfit that hit back after being humiliated by the Eels five days before.
On a weekend where a total of barely 9,000 fans attended two Sydney matches, more than 13,000 saw the Knights lose captain Kirk Reynoldson in the eleventh minute with what appeared to be a serious knee injury, while a tricep injury to Luke MacDougall ended his game by half time. Despite the setbacks, Newcastle led 14-12 early in the second half, before Robbie Farah steered the Tigers to a comfortable win, albeit with an inflated scoreline.
“They had a pop, I don’t think anybody lost any friends out there” said an almost enthused Knights coach Brian Smith.
The Tigers have won seven of their last eight and return to the top NRL four. The win underwhelming coach Tim Sheens. “Lets be realistic, we played a Knights side that were well underdone. They had a second rower in the centres. We’re not going to kid ourselves and say it was a great win”.
