Johns has depression

Andrew Johns has admitted that he suffered depression throughout his career, as he battled drugs and alcohol.

Johns revealed he had been diagnosed with the condition by several doctors, taking medication for the last five years.

“I didn’t want to take it, because it stabilized me and took away these incredible highs I got on, but invariably after the highs, I’d crash to lows where I’d wouldn’t leave the house for four days,” Johns told the Footy Show.

“It contributed to my behaviour. One minute I could be - literally - want to take the world on, and that’s where I’d be at my creative best. But then one day I’d turn up on the field and wouldn’t want to talk to anybody

Johns also said the condition had nothing to his problem with drugs.
