John Kosmina resigns from Adelaide United

DAILY SERVE: FRI 23/2

The Kosi era is over. Just like that. Three days ago he had a club team and a national presence. Now he’s unemployed. His press conference poetry nowhere near masking the vitriol he is best known for. He may have resigned, but the clubs swift removal of captain Ross Aloisi made it clear that Kosi was a sitting duck. Adelaide United could tolerate his antics no more. Perhaps United had no choice. Perhaps Aloisi’s post-grand final bile reflected a mindset permeated from the coach. United come out of this smelling of roses.

Just imagine this: Imagine United won the grand final. Do you think they would have made such a stand? Do you think they would have played moral crusader? Or, like this columnist, do you think they would have given him a slap on the wrist, told him to watch himself, then wished him luck for 2007/2008.

That grand final has proved to be quite significant. At least Kosi got a taste of watching football from the stands.
