Joel Griffiths wins Johnny Warren medal

Newcastle Jets striker Joel Griffiths has capped off a superb week, by taking the Johnny Warren medal as the A-League player of the season.

Griffiths finished well clear of Sydney FC’s Alex Brosque in the voting. Aside from the prestigious award and the championship crown, Griffiths’ 12 goals earned him the Golden Boot award.

Jets coach Gary Van Egmond was named coach of the year, while the Newcastle club also took out the fair play award.
