Idiot fan overshadows Parra comeback win
Referee Ben Cummins was struck on the head with a foam football after Penrith blew a 14-6 lead to lose to Parramatta 26-18 at CUA Stadium.
The anger in the crowd was palpable after a series of questionable decisions appeared to help the Eels as they piled on four tries in just eleven minutes.
The purple patch of razzle dazzle was a reminder that the Eels still have the ability to play a stylish brand of football.
Penrith gave its frustrated fans a glimmer of hope when Michael Jennings crossed with five minutes left. Jarrod Sammut’s conversion attempt missed, leaving the Panthers out of range.
Penrith coach Matt Elliott has called for the fan – at this stage unknown - who threw the football at Cummins to be banned for life.
