Huddle move inspires Port
An old fashioned move from Port coach Mark Williams has inspired the Power to a 32 win over Fremantle and confirmation of second spot heading into the AFL finals. Port Adelaide winning 17.15.117 to 12.13.85.
With Williams seeing his side wither away a 46 point lead midway through the second term down to just 4 points at the last change, the Power coach dragged the player huddle towards a particularly rowdy section of AAMI Stadium.
The Result? Power starved the Dockers of any possession in the opening stages of the last term and kicked the first three goals.
Fremantle came back again though, reducing the margin to 96-84 at the 14 minute mark, however goals to David Rodan and Justin Westhoff broke the back of a brave Dockers side.
Westhoff’s superb rookie season continues, with four goals tonight, as did Shaun Burgoyne, who finished with a tally of 4.4.
The Cornes brothers were at their usual productive best. Kane picking up 31, Chad 27.
As for Fremantle, Matthew Pavlich was inspiring. In the face of six of his teammates axed for ill-discipline, the star forward kicked four goals.
