Hawks hold out Tigers to stay unbeaten

Undefeated Hawthorn has held out a brave Richmond, with the Hawks beating the Tigers 14.22 (106) to 15.4 (94).

  > Kangas hold on for draw against Sydney

Hawthorn led at every change but couldn’t find a way to kill off the Tigers challenge. Buddy Franklin was uncharacteristically wayward, booting 1.7 before leaving the game early with injury.

Richmond briefly held the lead in the third term, while Mitch Norton’s second major reduced Hawthorn’s lead to five points nearing time added on. Jarryd Roughead then bagged back-to-back goals to ice the game. Roughead collected five goals.
