Adam Gilchrist has brushed off suggestions this weeks Adelaide test against India could be his last on home soil.
Columnists have hinted that this series, a relatively poor one by Gilchrist’s meteoric standards, should be the 36-year-old’s last. Australia’s greatest keeper-batsman had told News Limited that he has no intention of walking.
“I have no intention of quitting and haven’t given it any thought,” Gilchrist said.
“I am really enjoying my cricket and I could be here next summer. There is no reason to think that this could be my last Test (in Australia).”
Gilchrist has averaged 22.7 in the three tests against India, while his glovework in the Boxing Day test was unusually poor. A hectic timetable awaits, with test series in Pakistan, the West Indies and India scheduled for the Australian winter.
“There is a lot of cricket but for me, for where I am at the moment in my career, I am really excited by it and looking forward to it,” Gilchrist told News Limited.
“It is a nice position in my career to be in.”
