Gilbee supergoal kills off North Melbourne

The Western Bulldogs have edged out the Kangaroos by 11 points in a low-scoring NAB Cup opening round clash that came to life in the final term.
Both teams struggled in the steamy Darwin conditions, with the Bulldogs ahead by 13 points at the final change. The gap jumped to 20 points, before the Roos came roaring back with a supergoal to Daniel Harris and a goal to Matt Campbell within a three minute span.
The match became a war of attrition, until Dogs star Lindsay Gilbee fired a long bomb to deliver a telling supergoal to put the Roos out of their misery.
The Bulldogs picked up 64 more touches, Adam Cooney the leading possession getter with 26.
North Melbourne’s Leigh Adams was the only multiple goal scorer, landing a double.
