Geelong to end the Pies dream

Tonight will be the end of the dream, the end of the romance, the end of the theatre.

Tonight for the Pies, it is back to reality.

Geelong will bring Collingwood down to earth with a thud.

All that sophisticated weaponary of the $50,000 private jet won’t count for a cracker when the Pies run into the Cats.

If Collingwood was to pull off an amazing upset, their only hope is to get run of their half back line and have their forwards dominate.

Far easier said than done. Especially against a Geelong side that deservedly got nine players into the All-Australian side.

The Pies probably wouldn’t even be here had Eagles coach John Worsfold not taken off key defender Darren Glass last week.

Beating the Cats will be a far tougher task than squeaking past a weakened West Coast.

I do agree with Mick Malthouse though when he says extra time won’t have any further impact on his players. However, the mere journey to the west will certainly take its toll. History has proven that. Private jet or not, a long trip is a long trip.

Geelong in a canter.
