Four-play for the Romo/Owens show

Terrell Owens has played a number of superb games in his career. Playoffs, Superbowls, the man has outshone his mouth on many, many occasions. A regular season win at home over a 5-4 team might not seem all that momentous, however TO was in raptures as his 4 TD display single handedly dragged the Dallas Cowboys  to a 28-23 win over the Washington Redskins.

“This is one of the greatest games, really, that I feel like I’ve played in, just me coming through in the clutch,” Owens told reporters after the game.

“I pride myself in trying to make plays for the team. When my number’s called and opportunities are there for us to make plays, I know that’s my job.”

Owens delivered touchdown catches of 4, 31, 46 and 52 yards. The ascending order a true reflection of the increasing impact TO had on this game.

“What can you say about a receiver who catches eight passes, four for TDs?,” said Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips.

What indeed. Until Owens ramped up his virtuoso performance, The Redskins defence has the Cowboys measure. The Skins led 10-7 late in the third quarter and were very much on track for a season defining win over the NFC East leaders (9-1).

Such was the dominance of TO, he was involced in the final play of the game, knocking away a Redskins Hail-Mary.

“My assignment was to knock the ball down and I knocked the ball down,” Owens said

Romo’s 4TD passes for the season takes him to 27TD’s for the season, third highest in Cowboys history.
