Footy First reject Saints deal

A last ditch effort by St.Kilda president Rod Butterss to compromise with Footy First members Nathan Burke and Nathan Thompson has been rejected by the Saints duo.

“No. Certainly won’t,” Burke defiantly said when asked if he would consider the offer.

“The whole way along, my premise for doing this was we needed a united board at the Saints. Any hotch potch of half Footy first/half incumbent board I don’t think would be a united board.

“Our priorities have changed enough to not make it workable.”

Burke also took a shot at Butterss’ recent change of heart.

“Rod is at least acknowledging that Andrew Thompson and I would make good board members, probably in a little bit of conflict to what his original opinion was.”

Footy First claim they have 8000 proxy votes on their side, with a vote set to blow the current ticket out of the water.

“Hopefully they’re feeling threatened by the amount of proxy votes. At the moment, members voices’ (are) overwhelming.”

Butterss released a press statement yesterday, declaring he was ready to spend money on the football department. This has been one of the key sticking points of the rival ticket, which claims that aspect of the club has been ignored.

“We trust the members. Trust the members to put the very best people in place,” Butterss said.
