Crows choke Brisbane

Mark Ricciuto said goodbye, but the Crows said hello to the top eight, clinically beating the Brisbane Lions 12.14.86 to 8.12.60 to all but eliminate the Lions from the finals race.

Ricciuto picked up eleven disposals in his return from injury, as the Crows suffocated the Lions midfield. Adelaide had 111 more disposals than Brisbane, Luke Power providing a lone hand with 29 touches. The influence of Jonathan Brown was minimal, booting 1.1. Five Crows cracked the thirty barrier, with Brent Reilly top of the list with 38. Their twelve goals were shared among ten kickers to further ram home the team contribution.

Ricciuto, who still hasn’t officially announced his retirement, spoke after the game in an interview which was played through the AAMI Stadium speakers.

“Nothing will stop me next week. The boys are really hitting some form.”

Adelaide now controls its own destiny, however if the Crows fail to beat Collingwood at the MCG on Friday Night, they would have to rely on St.Kilda, Brisbane and perhaps Essendon all losing.
